Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have had their fairy tale star-studded wedding, and it’s one that already has people talking about Gelina. While the ceremony itself was beautiful, it has already sparked conversations that go beyond the big day. Many fans couldn’t help but bring up Gelina, noticing the timing of Selena’s wedding falling right on the anniversary weekend of Justin and Haley Bieber.
On top of that, Selena chose to share her wedding photos just 3 days later on the exact anniversary of Justin and Haley’s own wedding, which definitely fueled even more chatter online. Adding to the mix, Selena’s best friend and cousin, Priscilla, even jumped into the conversation, commenting on Justin’s post with, “She’s finally in a place where peace matters more than the past.
Just hope people stop dragging her name and let her live her life.” It also didn’t help when fans said Justin posted his song I do, on the day of Selena’s wedding. There was also wedding drama between Selena and her mom when Selena chose her grandfather to walk her down the aisle rather than her mother, Mandy Tifi.
Reports said that Mandy was hurt and Selena waited a whole month to tell her. Ultimately, Selena stuck with her decision because she felt like her grandparents were the ones who raised her. She really should have invited me the way she invited all of Hollywood, but I guess she’s not sentimental enough to invite her biggest critic. Fair game. Obviously, it can never just be a Selena video without a sprinkling of her past and without someone in her circle finding their way back to Justin, even on her big day.

We will talk about the rift between Selena and her mom’s relationship and how it ultimately led Selena to choosing her grandparents over her actual parents. Priscilla Marie is Selena’s cousin and longtime friend. Selena has brought her to multiple award shows and whenever Justin and Selena visited her family in Texas, the three along with other friends would hang out.
Priscilla has been in Selena’s life through it all, including being featured in Selena’s 2022 documentary, My Mind and Me. So, it’s safe to say she’s seen and heard it all. The thing with Priscilla and other members of Selena’s family/friend group is that they’ve always been ones to say shady things out loud.
Let’s not forget Carol Franklin, who was Selena’s bestie turned enemy after political viewpoints were not mutual. And then she started threatening Selena online, saying she was going to expose everything she knew about her. It seemed completely unhinged. And yet, those are the people Selena hangs out with. So, I’m not fully sure how Selena felt knowing that even on her big day, the day she dreamt about, her close friend and cousin used that time to go off under her ex’s Instagram, publicly tying Selena’s name back to Justin’s.
The person said, “She’s gone forever. Dramatic, but okay.” Priscilla’s pointless comment that she ended up deleting read, “She’s finally in a place where peace matters more than the past. Just hope people stop dragging her name and let her live her life.” This comment was so unnecessary because it told the whole world that Selena was more hung up on her past relationship than the world thought.
The comment hinted that Selena had struggled longer than her fans knew to completely let go of her past relationship. Obviously, if you read Scandalous Media, then you’re not that sh0cked to know it took Selena almost 7 years to leave the Beers alone and finally be happy herself. And look at what Priscilla said. She’s finally in a place where peace matters more than the past.
Feels like a weird thing to say on someone’s wedding day. It’s like saying after 90 throwback Jelina sessions hosted at Selena’s house every Tuesday where we all had to gather up and watch compilations of the two, she finally feels peace, so let her smile. It reminded me of when Selena liked the photo in 2023, 4 years after Justin’s wedding, saying, “If we were meant to happen, we would still be happening.
” I don’t know. The entire comment felt like a backhanded compliment to Selena. It was giving, “If she could go back in time, she’d choose Justin. But since she can’t and she’s finally over that, let’s be happy for Cell Benny. Also, the person she was addressing was not addressing Priscilla in any way. Nobody knows who Priscilla is besides diehard fans on Twitter and people like me who used to stalk Priscilla’s Twitter, which was entertaining because she randomly posted shady tweets until she eventually stopped tweeting altogether. She and her
husband Jay are not new when it comes to commenting on things relating to Justin or Haley. As you can see here with Jay, he shades Haley saying, “Business must be slow. better go ask Pops for more money. I get that Jay and Priscilla love Selena and they’ve been in her life for a long time, so they want to support her, but comments like this never come from anyone in the Bieber circle.
And yet, for Selena’s circle, we have a ton of examples of her friends either supporting Justin and Haley when there’s a fallout with Selena or shading them publicly. I believe that’s why hypocrisy from Selena’s fans is allowed because the entire person and her friend group have allowed it.
People keep saying now that Selena’s married, the chapter is officially closed. as if Justin doesn’t have a wife or kid. It’s wild how a big part of the internet still insisted on tying everything back to Gelina. Even Justin renewing his vows with Haley and starting a family wasn’t enough proof for them that Jelina is over. They felt like they had to wait until Selena got married just to solidify it.
That’s why I do get the point Priscilla made when she said, “Just hope people stop dragging her name and let her live her life.” But that’s not a privilege anyone can have when she’s used the same wedding planner as her ex, had her wedding 3 days before her ex’s wedding, and then posted photos on the day her ex got married.
It wasn’t a privilege when she used the same wedding photographer that Justin and Haley used for her 30th birthday, where the theme being her wedding. It’s also not a privilege anyone can get where after years of marriage, Selena still notoriously commented and liked things relating to Justin and Haley. People would have moved on from Gelina the way they moved on from previous celebrity relationships, but they were programmed not to move on by the very same person who was now begging people to leave her alone.
Which brings me to Justin Bieber posts I do on Selena’s wedding day. On the day of Selena’s wedding, Justin posted basketball photos with his song I do on it, and people thought that was shade or a dig at Selena. I can see that without context, it looks like uh why would he post his song I do on the same day? But as you can see here, Justin posted 18 photos and videos from his basketball game in the span of two days, September 26th and September 27th.
On those 18 photos and videos, he spammed every single post with random songs from Swag 1 and two, his two recent albums. On the day he posted the I do photo, he also posted a video with Speed Demon on it and a picture with Pop My and another one with everything Hallelujah. The day before he posted the following songs.
All I Can Take, Yukon, When It’s Over, Bad Honey, Everything Hallelujah, Better Man, Need It, Popping My All the Way, When It’s Over, I Do again, Petting Zoo, and Speed Demon. So, the conclusion we can come to is that he was just posting all of his songs and spamming all of us with them.
And on both days, he posted I do, but only on one day was it suddenly a Gelina shout out. I think the way Justin uses Instagram is so foreign to how we use it today. Which is why people read into every post of his thinking it’s a cry for help or shade. Yet in reality, he’s not media trained and he’s using Instagram the way we all used it in 2012 where we posted nine photos a day with captions that definitely needed a grammar check.
Do I think he’s shading Selena? No. I think he has a kid and a wife and he knows he can’t put himself in a position to care about his past. Do I think it feels like a full circle knowing that Selena’s also married? for sure. He’s probably like, “Damn, now we’re both married. Crazy how life works. It’d be funny if our kids married each other.

Selena and Mandy are a duo you see often if you’ve been following up with Selena’s career from the start. Selena’s mother, Mandy, had dreams of being a singer and actress, but they didn’t work out.
So, she worked hard to give that same dream to her daughter. From the moment Selena started working in Hollywood, Mandy was her mother and manager at the same time. She went everywhere with her and was in on every meeting, calling shots for Selena’s career. She also made sure to protect Selena in the industry by being a parent more than a manager.
Selena and Mandy had a great run, and they were almost like two besties, but behind the scenes, there were issues, as one can assume. Selena’s parents divorced when she was really young. Her father’s name is Ricardo Gomez. Selena admitted that she wanted a family really badly and blamed her mother for her parents’ divorce.
We have a whole post about Selena’s mom and dad and how Selena and her father didn’t have a great relationship growing up because Selena felt like he abandoned her. Mandy was hurt because of the divorce and projected onto Selena that her father had abandoned both of them. I believe this is why Selena said she used to blame her mom for things not working out.
When Selena got older, she reconnected with her dad and realized that every story has two sides and she could still have a relationship with her father even if her mother and father don’t. And then from then on, Selena and her dad had a pretty good relationship, which is a good end to this story. Selena’s mom, on the other hand, struggled.
Mandy was a teen mom who experienced heavy mood swings and was diagnosed with manic episodes during her pregnancy. Mandy was initially diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder, which was a misdiagnosis, and then eventually got diagnosed with ADHD. Their relationship has seen many ups and downs. In 2014, Selena fired her mom and stepfather Brian from managing her.
It was the very first time we publicly saw a rift between Selena and her mother. There were heavy rumors saying that Selena and her mom were not seeing eye to eye on Selena’s personal decisions. The media reported Selena has given her mom and stepdad the boot, relieving them of any work-related duties as of last month.
They had managed her for years and are said to be unhappy about her decision, but remain close with Selena regardless. Selena wanted to reach A-list level and she felt like she was outgrowing her parents. That was the main story being told to the media, but real ones know it wasn’t only outgrowing her parents that was the problem.
During that time, multiple sources told the media that Selena allegedly had a problem with drugs and alcohol. Hanging out with Justin at that time also didn’t help since he was in his Bizzle party era. During this time, Selena had canled the rest of her stars dance tour, which ultimately led her to check into rehab that next January.
By January 2014, Selena checked herself into a rehab that specializes with drug and alcohol abuse. The rehab she went to was called The Meadows. Her team was so worried that she would turn out to have a rehab stint as public as Demi Lovado since they both had that same Disney child star background.
And so when talking to the media, they emphasized that Selena voluntarily sent herself to rehab, but not for substance abuse. During 2013 and 2014, as Selena’s outgrowing her childhood and dealing with a confusing time going from Wizards of Waverly Place to Spring Breakers and being catapulted into the fast lane, she like most of her peers allegedly struggled to control her substance abuse.
Demi at that time was friends with Selena and since she already went through the whole drug rehab stint earlier, she tried to give Selena some advice and they were seen publicly hanging out in 2014 for the first time in 4 years after having a fallout. It’s easy to look at Miley, Justin, Demi, and Ariana and notice that they were on something because they’ve always been so vocal about their struggles, detailing everything they’ve done and when. But their peer, Selena, has been very strategic with hiding the fact that she struggled just as much as them, if not more than them, which I know is hard to believe because she’s the only one who hasn’t really had a public messy downfall and then revived herself back up.
This all ties in with Selena’s relationship to her mom because Mandy was not approving of how Selena lived her life and they kept clashing. Mandy also did not want Selena around Justin because she thought he was a bad influence on her when it came to partying and drinking. There was a lot of taboo between Selena, the drama with Justin, and both of them partying often.
That plus the canceled stars dance tour. Selena often had stage photos to keep her cute girl image. A few months before Selena canceled the tour, Selena staged a small family-style picnic performance to reassure both the media and her fans that everything was fine and there was no substance abuse issues, despite Selena cancelling the tour a few months later, checking into a rehab and firing her mom all within 6 months.
During those low moments, Selena would lean on her grandparents from her mother’s side. You guys also have to realize many people fell out with Selena from the years 2013 to 2018 because of her alleged substance abuse issues and her toxic relationship with Justin. Believe it or not, Taylor Swift was one of those people telling Selena, “If he’s so bad to you and we have to hear all of this all the time, why do you always go back to him?” Selena had free will every time she decided to go back to Justin, no matter who told her what. Don’t take
it from me. Take it from Selena’s own mother, who said, “No one controls her. She makes all of her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise, it falls on deaf ears. For a long time, Taylor and Selena’s friendship had many low points where they wouldn’t talk for months because of an argument.
It would be months or even years since they were spotted together hanging out. But ever since Selena fixed up her life and got with Benny, you’ll notice that her and Taylor have been much closer. This also does correlate to Selena’s rift with her mom because back in the summer of 2017, Selena got a kidney transplant given to her by her former bestie/ you were not invited to my wedding, Broncia Risa.
This was allegedly due to Selena’s lupus. And while that may have been the case, it rather seems that one needs a kidney due to substance abuse issues, and that could have been the issue with Selena as well. Francia’s dad alluded to that being the issue when he said that they stopped talking after Francia risked her life to give Selena a kidney and Selena still chose to drink and smoke.
Selena still smoking and drinking to this day and was even vaping on her wedding day. Once Selena saw that Taylor was recording, she hid the vape. Francancy was later asked and said that she had no regrets being Selena’s kidney donor. She said, “I’m grateful that I could do that for her.
” Look, from the beginning, the doctor told me it’s a donation. If you’re going to donate a dollar to St. Jude or somewhere else, you’re not going to call and say, “What are you doing with my dollar? I’m grateful that I’m alive and I can say that I saved a life.” I never said anything when the rumor came out that had gotten angry or something like that because she was smoking.
No one knows what’s going on and neither she nor I will be talking about it. And maybe one day we’ll address it. Just like Selena had done with her mother. It seems that she does not want to be held accountable for anything she is doing and is avoiding talking about it with Francia. The Weekend and anyone in Hollywood is not new to drugs and alcohol, so I’m guessing he was not the sober buddy Selena needed to be hanging out with if she was struggling with substances. Then came summer of 2017 and Selena had her kidney transplant which she posted in September of 2017.
Selena’s mom is emotional and she says that she gained Francia as a daughter. Guess where that landed Francia? Not Selena’s wedding that basically everyone else went to. Mandy said Selena gained a kidney. I was able to keep my little girl, but I also gained another daughter. During this time, Mandy and Selena were at another low and this brought them closer together.
Mandy says, “For all those moments of not knowing if we were going up or going down, I can always come back to this picture and know we can always make it back up.” The surgery gets Selena in her fields, and so she goes to Justin’s house and hangs out with him before breaking up with the weekend.
She was literally with the weekend a few weeks before reconciling with Justin. Justin and Selena are both nostalgic and sentimental over their relationship, their personal struggles, and her kidney transplant. They start hanging out again. Selena’s mother isn’t speaking with Selena. So, how did she find out about all this? Social media.
By November 2017, the media reports that Mandy has trust issues when it comes to Justin and Selena being together. Selena knew it would be an issue, so she didn’t bring Justin to her family’s Thanksgiving celebration. By December 2017, the media reported that Mandy was hospitalized after fighting with Selena about her relationship with Justin.
Mandy had found out that Justin and Selena were in therapy, and she realized that the relationship was more serious than she thought. I mean, who could blame her? These two met up every few months. When she realized it was that serious, plus all the other stuff she was dealing with at the time, she had a breakdown and sent herself to the hospital.
By January 2018, Selena signed on to Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day in New York City, and her mother disapproved of Selena working with a disgraced director. Mandy said, “No one can make Selena do anything she doesn’t want to. I had a long talk with her about not working with him, and it didn’t click. Her team are amazing people.
There is no fall person here. No one controls her. She makes all her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise, it falls on deaf ears. This is why I never pied Selena the way other people have, because at the end of the day, most of her choices were exactly that, her choices. Nobody forced her to do anything.
She was not an innocent lamb, but rather someone who is stubborn enough to do what she wanted at the end of the day while wasting your time crying on your shoulder. That’s why her friends described her as someone who self-sabotages and needs chaos in her life. I think that you know the things that fuel you and give you purpose in life, the things that make you happy, but I don’t think you always choose that.
Yeah, that’s probably self-sabotage. Yeah, that that’s exactly what it is. I think stuff being normal or not having right chaos is actually uncomfortable because if you think about it, your life for so long from such a young age has always been chaos. By March 2018, Selena’s mom tells ENews that her and Selena do not talk about her love life.
She says Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe, and healthy. Every mother and daughter has disagreements. Selena and her mom are once again at a low point at this time because Selena doesn’t want to hear any opinions about how she’s living her life. She wants the kidney transplant, the multiple rehab trips, the two cancelled tours, the toxic boyfriend, and allegedly buying meth with a toxic boyfriend all at the same time.
How wonderful. Regarding Selena staging photos after an issue in her life goes viral, someone said, “Yeah, they bought drugs and the next day Selena staged a paparazzi shoot. She was taking photos reading to some random kid at the park. The only kid at the park with no parents around. This is why I say it’s better Justin chose Haley and Selena chose Benny since the only aisle these two would have been walking into together was the hospital aisle.
From March 2018 to July 2018, we have as follows. Jelina breaks up and Justin and Haley get engaged. A few months after the Gelina engagement, which happened in July 2018, Selena was seeking mental health treatment at an East Coast psychiatric facility. This is in October 2018. TMZ was the first to break the news to both us and Mandy.
They were not speaking during this time. This was another one of their lows. While all of this was happening, Selena was seeking support from her friends and grandparents. More on them later. In Selena’s 2022, My Mind and Me, Mandy says, “They called me and wanted to know what my daughter was doing in the hospital with a nervous breakdown.
She didn’t want anything to do with me. I was scared she was going to die.” Through TMZ, they called me and wanted to know what my daughter was doing in the hospital with a nervous breakdown. She didn’t want anything to do with me, and I was scared she was going to die. Now ask yourself why someone in Hollywood who has access to all these substances like the rest of her peers who recently got a kidney transplant and got her heart shattered by her on again offagain would be in the hospital with their parent worried they were going to
die. Mandy was worried about an OD which makes sense because this was a very difficult time for Selena. She was showing up drunk and high at work rellated events and she always had random bruises on her as if she was constantly hitting into things or even falling by accident. Her mother was so worried about her, she said, “You hang on as tight as you can and try to help them with their treatment.
” And that’s the hardest thing to do, to then go to bed and hope that they wake up the next day. It’s a miracle she got out, but there’s always a fear that it’s going to happen again. And that hurt us so much. 2022 was the year Selena was trying to open up and was doing so with my mind and me. And when she also shared when she attended NA and AA meetings as part of her journey towards healing and self-awareness, she said in an interview with Wondermind, “Honestly, I believe that’s why a lot of people go to AA or NA meetings like myself. I do because I
find it inspiring and moving. I find it empowering when I can speak or just hear others tell their story.” It’s also important to note that Selena and her mom weren’t just clashing because of personal life choices, but because Selena had bipolar disorder and she never knew about it until she got diagnosed.
She said regarding her parents, “I shouldn’t have spoken to them the way that I did, and I shouldn’t have treated them the way that I did sometimes. Then they know it wasn’t me, so when I wake up the next day, they’ll tell me what happened, but they explained to me. They’re like, “Look, we know that’s not you talking and we’re really concerned and just know we love you.
We don’t see anything different from what was last night to now.” I remember certain things that I did and I was really so mean. And so like even to this day, I keep saying thank you and I’m sorry and everything that I do. This is her referencing a time period in 2019. She said they later told her once we found out everything.
It made so much sense, Selena. Like you’re the best that you’ve ever been. 2019 is also the year that her and her mom try to sort out their rift and try to understand each other more. By April 2022, Selena and her mom are on better terms and they launched their own mental health platform, Wondermind, which is a whole hidden scandal on its own.
The cut did a piece on it and apparently Selena’s mom was being accused of, stay with me now, snorting lines of Verilin in the office of her and Selena’s Wondermind startup. Mandy denied the rumor, saying, “It’s unfortunate that a few disgruntled employees with an axe to grind can spread lies about me and distort the truth.
” Who’s to say the employees are lying? But then again, who’s to say Mandy is lying? It is interesting though because these are the same employees who told the media that Wondermine is in debt, which turned out to be true, laying off 60% of their employees and failing to pay them on time. Before Selena moved in with Benny after buying their $35 million mansion, Selena was living with her grandparents from 2020 to 2025. Selena has always been close to her grandparents from both sets of her family, but she’s been incredibly close with her maternal grandparents. She’s been living with them for years, and they’ve been helping her get through tough times without judgment.
It makes sense that Selena would want her grandfather to walk her down the aisle since he never got the chance of doing that with Selena’s mom, Mandy.
