The 45-year-old actor resides in the modest Village of Lions Bay roughly 50 miles north of the U.S. border. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported Thursday that dozens of investigators were seen searching train tracks and waters near McLean’s house in the Brunswick Beach area.

His neighbors Russ and Dorothy Meiklejohn couldn’t imagine why anyone would bring harm to McLean in their small western Canadian community.

“As tiny as it is, he was a big part of it,” Dorothy told the CBC.

In addition to “Virgin River,” McLean’s long list of television appearances includes a 2025 appearance on “Murder in a Small Town,” a 2024 role in “The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story” and a bit part in a 2016 episode of the CW’s “Arrow.”
