after long months of waiting Louisiana’s Gator season is finally here but this year promises a unique set of challenges with Gator prices taking a hit in the marketplace recently fewer Hunters are willing to risk culling these killers and so the beasts are bigger meaner and hungrier than ever before they on top of the food chat no other Predator that can attack an alligator other than a person they’re losing fear of us they’re not scared of us at all making things even more unpredictable Louisiana’s expecting a Relentless hurricane

season but it’ll take more than that to scare off the king of the swamp with 500 tags to fill and three teams to fill them Troy calls a meeting of Team Landry youall ready what I’m hearing and seeing is more Gators than ever and more aggressive last year we had a population explosion this year they get more aggressive and I guess that’s because the numbers they’re getting hungry they’re running out of food yeah and not only that they’re coming after the boat alligators would always run and hide and go down anytime they’d hear a boat

coming and now it seems like it’s just opposite all right y’all ready ready it all right Make It Count with no time to lose Troy hits the water where the hell is pickles pickles and he’s brought along an eager new deck hand named Pickle this year Big T had to work on a job he couldn’t get off of work a friend of mine from below New Orleans I’ve been knowing since so Lord maybe 35 years now he’s got a niece her nickname is pickles she know don’t look too much like an alligator hter she look like she should be in third or

fourth grade at school or something she’s so petite but don’t underestimat her she’s tough ho it hold it hold it what you doing with a pink gun case put that on the boat what put that in there but why you want that I got a gun that’s a 708 a who that’s a rifle that’s a 708 what you going to do with that that’s too big we’re going to snipe them I pack a punch a lot more than people expect I’ve been hunting since I was three I think just been hooked ever since and that’s all we do down home is Hun and fish we in a b all the time and we’ve

been playing with alligator since we were a little bitty I really respect Mr Troy and I got a lot of appreciation for what he does and I’ll be willing to do anything that he needs me to it’s good to have somebody like pickles in the boat now she’s a good shot and it’s just another tool to my advantage tell me how you got the nickname pickles because I’m a little to pick my well my middle name’s Nicole that’s where it started from my my daddy yeah my daddy used to call me Cheyenne Nicole and it started sounding like

shiny nickel after the years of saying it you know after that it was shiny nickel pickle now it’s just pickle shiny nickel pickle yep that’s where I come from what about you you got a nickname no I ain’t got no nickname what about King of the Swan where you got that from I don’t know how the hell I got that name yeah me either normally I don’t like bringing little young kids on my boat during alligator season cuz we got so much work to do but pickles she’s not a big person but she’s strong and she grew up doing

and Mr tro you still regretting having that pink gun case in a boat or what can’t make fun of that pink gun case no more that pink gun case done prove the today huh after the shot I just saw you put on that damn thing all right all right wickles we ready I’m ready Papa Troy Troy and his Dean pickle prepare to fight a recent invasion of powerful alligators and the new team are already acting like they’ve hunted together for years sure is nice to have somebody put in the boat for a change you like got one of my

boys yeah them them boys are ugly boy they look just like that Daddy and always with a smile mhm Cinderella at her finest the Beauty and the Beast that’s what they ought to call it huh you know pickles and ey in the boat she says what she feels and I say how I feel and we get along good that way you know she barks at me bites back at me and uh I like it she can tell me whatever she wants long as she does her job we out there for one reason to catch alligators and nothing else matters looks all tore up oh yeah oh yeah we got

but it all work out in the wash well with a deck hand you got to help to get big ones in the boat when you ain’t got a deck hand you can get them in the boat but it’s rough on you now I’m getting kind of old I just don’t want to feel like pulling on that stuff no more my back hurts me every time I get out of bed in the morning so damn hot no help and that’s what you got to do 52 Mi North in Bay usoro Willie returned to the water hours ago after taking his son to the hospital with heat exhaustion and now he continues to divide and conquer with his

this thing where I can get him back old boy cuz he’s around all kind of trees big old get try to get him come on is time I can’t get a good shot this 500lb Beast is a good kill but getting it back to the boat alone is a challenge in chore now it comes the job boy I’m missing my son more and more every hook now’s a job I much prefer hunting with my son I mean I do miss a little bit of hunting on my own but it’s a lot easier

and a lot better hunting with a helper on the boat it takes a lot off your back working this hard and straining on them alligators like that I mean something bad can happen right quick this thing is heavy I mean you talking 5 6 lb animal as Willie loads his last Gator of the day Junior approaches to tally up the team’s numbers got him done yeah I’m done yeah I just run the last one right down there huh I just run the last one right down there yeah what it look like I got about 7even 8 10 something like that 10 got

going to let the alligator eat all of them you know I mean I need you to come get them and get rid of them because we can’t let them keep on eating horses you know so that was a full grown about 800 lb horse about 800 900 lb that horse it was a year and a half old it had to be a big alligator now that this big alligator killed one horse I promise you he’s going to come back for more this is only the beginning if we don’t get this alligator a lot worse Could Happen people are going to be next I promise you looks like we got a big job to do

just knew that that’s what he wanted and my idea worked oh as Bo we need a bigger boat as alligator season reaches its peak a massive tropical storm approaches threatening to derail Hunters all across the Bayou Ronnie Adams and his deckhand Ashley dead ey Jones are heading toward Louisiana’s 100e surge wall their goal catching giant saltwater Gators on the other side they call it the 100-year wall to protect St Berard parish and Orleans Parish from hurricanes tropical storm any type of storm come through supposed to stop the storm surge from

flooding these parishes for at least a 100 years built by the Army Corps of Engineers the 100-year storm wall cost over 14.5 billion dollar and took years to build it stretches 133 mies protecting the value and the City of New Orleans with the storm approaching Ashley’s concerned about the lock system closing while they hunt on the other side so what happens if they close the locks while we’re out there hunting we sleep and plenty off we’ll spend the night till they open the loots yeah but out there in that open water is

Bayou in Southern Louisiana in by us Soro Willie Edwards and his son are giddy this morning as they prepare to hunt one of their favorite honey Halles a special place they called dinosaur territory fluck you on that nose dinosaur territory is another Bulls back yeah and we’re going to go back there and see if we can’t treble hook a couple and see what we got on lines I put a couple extra hooks back there knock down the population their annual trip to Dinosaur territory has become a midseason Adventure where the boys can cut loose

and have some fun for one day keep it going we got hooks to run hate to have to hurt you this morning put that El on your ass boy watch it watch it where you going where you going I’m about to throw you out this boat you going with me what you going to do we make the day go by faster by joking around or cutting up or wrestling in the boat and I mean I love him to death but every down there I got to show him who’s boss where you going stop we got we got to run let go to L let go to Lake Line’s down yeah I got something something down

in dinosaur territory in a way only they can put that on your ass boy what you got they go L daylight breaks across the bou as Gator season nears completion in by you sorl Willie Edwards is anxious to get the day going and little Will’s brought a surprise he made himself got something a little new today what do you got dead boy we’re going to try out this full prone hook oh my goodness we’re going I’m we’re going to see how that works I mean we got that three prone right there and that’s big hook we’re just going to

try it out and see how it works come out this morning brought a different kind of hook and everything I think it’ll be a good idea and I think it’s a bigger Advantage you got four hooks instead of three and you’re going to for sure sink probably two hooks in him it looks like it’s got some weight to it it looks like it that’s a little too heavy but we’ll try it though how you tell you ain’t even held it I see it see how big this sha is that’s way too heavy it’s going to get hung up more than anything we’ll try it though kind of figur little more

hooks on it it might work a little better anything to catch better for him to bring that hook to the landing everything and want to try something different that shows he’s wanting to progress and wan to show effort to it but when you’ve been alligator hunting so long and been building Hooks and stuff and doing this stuff for years I mean you know right off the bat when you look at it he made the shaft way too big too much lead in it and it’s way too heavy and uh we’re going to try it though we’re going to see how it goes

trying to hook him and everything but it’s just too much heavy you have to you have to melt all that back down and everything and get you a smaller shaft on it and put less lead in it make it a little lighter we get it right we’re taking uh had to melt it down though but I had to bring it back home get the uh get the ball and uh the burner and everything and then melt it back down and then report I learned how to make treble hooks for my dad and uh he he taught me the first time he taught me I never forgot it and we make a treble

hooks like no other people makes them I mean we do our own little special way and will he got a little bit to learn on a treble hook right out there right out there right out there throw it throw it get him get him get him got to in the tip of the Tails got let him down son here to come up let him down I’m letting him down come up with come up with  him here grab your G it buried that hook did it that sucker shooting some blood huh talking about after catching this final

can teach me and see what I can  learn as Gator season nears its conclusion some Hunters across the Bayou have plans to tag out today in Myrtle Grove Bruce Mitchell is heading out for his last day with 12 tags to fill he thinks he knows just the spot that can produce a boatload Showtime let’s go get them this new place I’m going to is surrounded by alligator Farms but the thing about these farms and ranches over here they’re picking up 60,000 gator eggs a year so once these Gators hit four and 5T they released 15%

of the Gators back to the wild so you looking that 9,000 Gators they turning loose in here every year so you got to have piles of gators back here line down feels like a decent one who woo burn my hand come on come on baby calm down calm down oh yeah I like to get the tape on him then

he he can’t bite me no more a seven plus footer on the first line gives Bruce hope that he came to the right area and’ll have no trouble tagging out by Day end I know it from minute I got here this going to be a honey hole so it looks like my pl’s working I figured they had a lot of releases over here and I was right when you release a gator in the wild they cut take and cut a notch out of his tail and when he cut that Notch out of his tail that lets you know it was form Gator so this is definitely form Gator territory

so far so good I like it Bruce is hunting in an area filled with gators but as the day goes on he realizes tagging out won’t be as easy as he thought that’s the B hang I don’t like giv the way that sounds line up I mean it just don’t make no sense that that you got a line not even down over here with all these gter and they just it’s I don’t know I can’t figure it out this line should be down I’m not sure what’s going on here uh I might not be in the right spot I know they got Gators here I’m just going to have to find them I mean that’s how we

do it out here we just adapt and keep going you can’t stop can’t let it get you down you just got to go go go oh yeah Line’s coming up pretty much tell way this thing’s moving we got another good one dang they got some Gators over here who golly whoa whoa ah oh golly come on

some time with him he’s like family now we tag down we tag down it’s not the Funky Chicken it’s the funky alligator I ain’t got enough I ain’t got enough to do the alligator in here W you know I love hunting alligators I hope I hunt alligators till the day I die but the best part of hunting alligator is the tell you tag up but then tomorrow I’m going to be crying because I’m out of tagged and I can’t go alligator hunt so it’s bitter sweet can tell you how happy I am to be done that’s it and what a way to go H I know
