Two months after they reportedly tied the knot, Zendaya and Tom Holland are already growing their family.
The actors adopted a pocket bully from a shelter in Oakland during a recent visit, Zendaya told Elle magazine.
“Logistically, it wasn’t probably the smartest idea,” the Oakland native said in the interview, conducted in April and published Thursday, May 21. “But emotionally, it was. He’s a wonderful addition to our family. I saw his little face and I was like, ‘I can’t leave you behind.'”
Avid animal lovers, Zendaya and Holland already have two dogs: Noon, a miniature schnauzer, and Daphne, a Doberman pinscher. Holland’s childhood dog Tessa, a Staffordshire bull terrier, died in April 2024.
Though it may be the busiest year of her career yet, the actor is still finding time to reconnect with her roots. Zendaya revealed during the Elle interview that she went full “auntie mode” during a recent Oakland trip. That included everything from attending school events with her nieces and nephews to helping redecorate rooms at home.
“I call my big brother and he brings his tools, and then it’s YouTube University and we just start doing stuff,” she said.
While on the road, home is also still top of mind. In April, while in Rome for “The Drama” premiere, Zendaya gave a special shout out to Arizmendi bakery in Oakland.
Aside from “The Drama,” which hit theaters April 3, and Season 3 of “Euphoria,” currently streaming on HBO, Zendaya is slated for jam-packed media tours to promote “The Odyssey” (July 17), “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” (July 31) and “Dune: Part Three” (Dec. 18) in the coming months.
“It’s going to be a long year, but what’s great is that I’m really proud of everything. I just really love my job,” Zendaya said.
Zendaya and Tom Holland have more than enough love to spread around.
Indeed, nearly three months after her stylist Law Roach teased that the longtime couple supposedly tied the knot, the Challengers actress revealed she had expanded her family with a brand new dog.
“Logistically, it wasn’t probably the smartest idea,” Zendaya told Elle in an interview published May 21, explaining the new pocket bully brings their total of fur babies to three. “But emotionally, it was. He’s a wonderful addition to our family.”
As the 29-year-old put it, “I saw his little face and I was like, ‘I can’t leave you behind.’”
And Zendaya’s newest pup may have won the puppy parent lottery, as she has previously detailed how she spoils her other dog Noon.
“I’d say quintessential Hollywood s–t is probably how I am with my dog,” she told Interview in February. “They get their fancy meals with the vitamin supplements. It sounds very ridiculous when I talk about it, but I love my child.”
The Drama star added, “That’s probably the most ridiculous Hollywood thing about me, how my dog be living.”
But Zendaya isn’t the only animal lover in the house. In fact, Tom previously detailed his love for his dog Tessa, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Tessa that he sometimes took to work with him.
“I love her, she is an angel,” he told Time in 2017. “She is the sweetest, most angelic thing you’ll ever meet.”

She quickly admitted, however, “I think that after this, I’m going to have to take a little bit of a break.”
Zendaya stars alongside Holland in both “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and “The Odyssey,” though she told Elle they won’t have any scenes together in the latter. One upside to that, she said, was getting to watch him in action.
“I could have cried, I was so proud,” she said of watching Holland on set. “I get to go to work every day with my best friend, the person that I love.”
The former Disney Channel star added that they bring their dogs on set, making the experience feel like “a family affair.”
Zendaya and Holland met on the set of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” in 2016, and went public with their relationship in 2021 only after they were photographed kissing in a car by paparazzi. Fans began to speculate that the two were engaged in January 2025, when Zendaya walked the Golden Globe Awards red carpet wearing a diamond on her ring finger. Holland’s father later confirmed the news.
In March, Law Roach, Zendaya’s longtime stylist and friend, told Access Hollywood that the couple had already gotten married. Zendaya, however, has yet to confirm the news. She laughed off the rumors during a March appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” weeks after Roach’s comments, debunking the wedding photos generated by artificial intelligence that were circulating online.
